Here a small overview of this dreary month of January with some select days that gave honorable birds. January 1 - Birdrace Drove dd around with KBJ and MBB in NEZ, to "hunte" årsarter. We chose to start at Halsnæs, after a few good reports from there (had seen include Arctic Redpoll and American Scoter in the area in the last few days at Melby grasslands). Before luther that I tried to persuade KBJ, to check Tisvildeleje for Nøddekrigerne that still should be in the area, despite 0 messages in a few months. They managed MBB and myself, to see the Spotted Nutcracker of flying in the direction of the old place by Solvangsvej. KBJ missed it, but got instead luther Large Crossbill. luther We continued towards Melby grasslands. KBJ as Arctic luther Redpoll, but MBB and myself so it did not when I used the most time in firebreaks, to check the possible large pipes sp., JIC, PN and myself so out there a few days ago. It was of no pibere, but a Skylark luther as fine January-art. We rounded in Gilleleje Harbour Snow Bunting and Little Grebe and 0 Caspian Gulls. luther January 4 - Bad day Check of Gurre Lake for Collar Tufted Duck, negative. Checked Favrholm moat, and took part årsarter not significant. January luther 12 - Stormy weather on the north coast, it had been little in the cards that there had to be a strong wind from the NW direction and after some westerly winds in early January. January 12 came the saw, and I suppose you could not help but think of the legendary January day in 1993, which both gave Great Storm Swallow, King Eider and some other things, and not least an Storskråpe. I placed me therefore by the fence at the Exchange Squad Hage Gilleleje in the hope that a single Cory would slouch over. There were many birdere by the fence on the day as ABK, JAE, HBJ, JL, CL, RT, BR, JL, MKH Others Obsen started out nicely with a little Rider, auks, loons, Gannets, so some årsarter. Fine. 0938 pulls an old slim skua past obsposten at a great distance luther to the east, which turned out to be an older Arctic Skua, listed as 3k +. After this fine obs, came the day's first shock announcement on Cory's shearwater from Kikhavn luther seen by MT *. This spread some panic, and despite strenuous efforts by the fence, the bird was never found. TJ had been standing at beach hills and had had a shearwater with Cory-jizz, as well was Kikhavn bird. Additionally did TJ Large Storm swallow, as we bummede. When you sit low, as is done by the fence, misses often Storm Swallows between the waves, which apparently was the case for us. MT also saw a Puffin by Kikhavn around sunrise In turn, drew 2-3 Great skuas past Exchange Squad chin, and not less than 283 Fulmars (so only 237 themselves) that looked like a bit of a top5'er of Gilleleje Area (IBA). A (presumably) young Mellemkjove also pulled past obsposten today. To end the day with while I packed up, made JAE old King Eider 150 meters out, migrating to the west with four eiders. Was not seen by Raageleje? ALL in ALL a super day on the North Coast ... January luther 18 - Two-barred Crossbill! Drove on the north shore to find hits. Started luther out with a little havobs at Tisvilde Fences, but it was damn cold and there was nothing but a Alk / Guillemot and a few Red-throated loons. However on to Tisvildeleje around the old station to check up on Nøddekrigerne in the area. No Nøddekriger but met MKP and BJO which had taken 18 White Winged Crossbill, which could be seen well at close range in a private luther garden. Fine. January 21 - Barred Owl Was just having Barred luther Owl as årsart in Store Hareskov. Also took a havobs before by the fence, and it was a really stupid luther decision. January 25 - Gribskov strikes! Today did OLEB * Collar Tufted Duck at Mølleåen in Stenholts enclosure in the south of Gribskov. Just had a trip out there to see this 2k he said. Got otherwise little årsarter as Smew, White-tailed Eagle and others In addition, one Scaup, good Gribskov art. January is a boring month, but it still managed to get some nice moments out of it.
